About Mere Court Hotel — a four-star country house wedding venue in Knutsford, Cheshire

Mere Court Hotel sits just outside Knutsford in the heart of Cheshire, a four-star country house hotel and AA Rosette restaurant in seven acres of grounds. Originally built in 1903 as a wedding present for William Dunkerley and Amy Costance, the Dunkerleys lived there until 1955. North West Gas owned it next, the Hampson family converted it to a hotel in 1998, and the Chawla family added the Conservatory in 2003.

Rescheduled after Covid — but worth the wait

Having met Kaley and Tom on their pre-wedding shoot, I knew we’d capture many natural, fun moments. Like many weddings, their day had to be rescheduled due to Covid lockdowns and restrictions — an emotional and difficult time for everyone involved.

Blue skies and an outdoor ceremony

Thankfully we were blessed with great weather on the rescheduled day — bright, sunny and dry. That made an outdoor civil ceremony possible, which made for fantastic photos at Mere Court Hotel.

Bridal prep in Stockport with Danielle Horan

Before arriving at the venue I joined Kaley and her team at her house in Stockport, where I met Danielle Horan — one of the best makeup artists I’ve worked with. The atmosphere was calm and friendly but full of anticipation.

Ceremony, the lake and the seven acres

I met Tom and his groomsmen for a few natural images before the outdoor ceremony. Afterwards we worked the seven-acre grounds, the lake and the gardens for couple portraits.

Wedding breakfast, speeches and the evening

The wedding breakfast and speeches landed warmly; the evening reception turned into a brilliant Cheshire wedding party.
