Pre-wedding family shoot (with a river)

Photographed Clare and Ryan with their little daughter Ava a few weeks earlier — ended up in a river. Brilliant fun.

Bridal prep at the family home

Met Clare first at their house with her dad and bridesmaids before heading to Combermere.

Beautiful ceremony in the maze conservatory — Ryan literally swept Clare off her feet during the first kiss. Lovely highlight.

Lake portraits — and a smoke bomb

As the sky filled with cloud we headed straight out for couple portraits. Combermere’s gardens and huge lake gave us natural walk shots and lake-edge images — Clare and Ryan brought brilliant smoke action.

Brolly shots and a huge rainbow

The skies finally opened and we ducked into the nearby woods for shelter — brolly shots before heading back to the drinks reception. Then the most hilarious humour during the speeches (best man got Ryan properly). Just before the dance floor opened, the changeable Cheshire weather produced the biggest rainbow I’d ever photographed at a wedding in 20 years. Lucky.
