About Mere Court Hotel — a four-star country house wedding venue in Knutsford, Cheshire

Mere Court Hotel sits just outside Knutsford in the heart of Cheshire, a four-star country house hotel and AA Rosette restaurant in seven acres of grounds. Originally built in 1903 as a wedding present for William Dunkerley and Amy Costance, the Dunkerleys lived there until 1955. North West Gas owned it next, the Hampson family converted it to a hotel in 1998, and the Chawla family added the Conservatory in 2003.

Bridal prep in Liverpool

The day started with bridal prep at Andrea’s parents’ home in Liverpool, just a short drive from All Saints Church. I met Andrea’s three charming bridesmaids and the couple’s adorable baby. The atmosphere was calm and full of anticipation as the hair and makeup artists worked their magic.

I then joined Marc and his groomsmen at the Childwall Abbey pub, conveniently located opposite All Saints Church. Plenty of natural moments before the ceremony.

All Saints Church in Childwall is a properly historic 14th-century church — full of character and a beautifully photogenic backdrop for the ceremony. After the vows we captured memorable images at the church before the confetti toss.

Reception at Mere Court Hotel

Over to Mere Court Hotel for the reception. We were blessed with good weather, which meant we could make full use of the seven-acre grounds and the lake for couple portraits. Andrea and Marc’s natural chemistry came through in every frame.

Wedding breakfast, speeches, light painting and the evening

The wedding breakfast and speeches were warm and full of family. As the evening progressed we worked some creative light painting — one of the techniques Andrea specifically mentioned in her review.
