Eleanor and Jamie’s awesome wedding at Mere Court Hotel was a full-day, two-photographer celebration that ran until 10:30 pm. As the recommended Mere Court Hotel wedding photographer for over 15 years, this is one of my favourite venues — and the long coverage with my second shooter Peter meant we captured everything from bridal prep through to the Conga line stretching outside Mere Court past the lake.

About Mere Court Hotel — a four-star country house wedding venue in Knutsford, Cheshire

Mere Court Hotel sits just outside Knutsford in the heart of Cheshire, a four-star country house hotel and AA Rosette restaurant in seven acres of grounds. Originally built in 1903 as a wedding present for William Dunkerley and Amy Costance, the Dunkerleys lived there until 1955. North West Gas owned it next, the Hampson family converted it to a hotel in 1998, and the Chawla family added the Conservatory in 2003.

All-day coverage with second shooter Peter

Eleanor and Jamie booked long all-day coverage until 10:30 pm and added my second shooter Peter. Two photographers means the grooms and groom’s team have proper coverage while I’m with the bride, then we have two angles during the ceremony and parallel coverage through the speeches, first dance and party.

Bridal prep at Mere Court

I started with Eleanor’s bridal prep — natural moments, plenty of detail, and the famous “moments between the moments” that make up the best wedding galleries.

Ceremony, couple portraits and the grounds

The ceremony at Mere Court was lovely; we worked the seven-acre grounds, the lake and the Conservatory for couple portraits. Knowing this venue across every season makes a real difference to the photography — I know where the light lands at every time of day.

Wedding breakfast, speeches and the Conga

The wedding breakfast in the Conservatory, the speeches and the first dance all flowed — and then the Conga line ended up stretching outside Mere Court, past the lake, and back into the Conservatory. One of the more memorable evening shots.
