Photographing weddings at Castlefield Rooms
Heritage venues challenge a photographer in a good way — the lighting is rarely ‘wedding-optimised’, so I work with available light and the existing architecture to bring out what makes the space unique. Smaller civic ceremonies often run on tighter schedules, so I plan the must-have shots in advance with the couple.
What I notice when I shoot here
Castlefield, located in the heart of Manchester City Centre, minutes from tram and train links and with ample parking for customers. If you are looking to arrange a wedding, corporate party or a private celebration. Castlefield rooms offer a wide range of menus specially created by our chefs at Albert’s Shed. Natural daylight floods all our spaces, some of which take their inspiration from the industrial heritage of Castlefield, and others which our architect designed and are unashamedly modern. The rooms are versatile and as equally suited to private parties and celebrations as they are to networking events, lunches and dinners. They offer a full event planning service and every event is tailor made for you.

Designed by Stephenson Bell Architects, this is a stunning, modern room with floor to ceiling windows that provide unparallelled views over the Castlefield Basin. The Merchant Room can be used for ceremonies for up to 170 guests, wedding breakfasts for a maximum of 140 guests and drinks receptions for up to 220 guests.
Its loft-style beams are a give away to its humble beginnings as a carpenter’s workshop. An elegant space, perfect for ceremonies with up to 100 guests and drinks receptions for up to 120. Traditional but yet contemporary, it is a beautiful room for any wedding breakfast up to 100 guests or evening reception. It can also be used in conjunction with The Merchant Room for larger weddings.
