Rob And Sam’s Amazing Mere Court Hotel Wedding Day
Rob and Sam’s wedding at Mere Court Hotel in Knutsford was an absolute pleasure from start to finish — two lovely men who clearly love each other, in one of the best wedding venues in Cheshire. As a recommended Mere Court Hotel wedding photographer for over 15 years, this is one of my most photographed venues anywhere.

About Mere Court Hotel — a Grade II listed country house wedding venue in Knutsford, Cheshire
Mere Court Hotel sits just outside Knutsford in the heart of Cheshire, a four-star country house hotel and AA Rosette restaurant in seven acres of grounds. Originally built in 1903 as a wedding present for William Dunkerley and Amy Costance, the Dunkerleys lived there until 1955. North West Gas owned it next, the Hampson family converted it to a hotel in 1998, and the Chawla family added the Conservatory in 2003.
I’ve been a recommended wedding photographer at Mere Court for over 15 years — and that long relationship matters. I know the venue, the team, the light through every room and where to be at each moment of the day.
- Four ceremony options: The Arboretum, The Dunkerley Suite, The Conservatory (up to 150 guests) and outdoors at the pagoda
- Grade II listed building set in seven acres with a lake
- 40 individually designed bedrooms plus The Lodge (a two-bedroom house)
- AA Rosette restaurant for the wedding breakfast
- Past guests include Bill Clinton, Ruby Wax, Dawn French and Spandau Ballet; venue featured in Cold Feet
Rob and Sam’s wedding day at Mere Court Hotel
Engagement shoot and planning
Rob and Sam booked an engagement photoshoot ahead of the wedding — always useful for getting comfortable in front of the camera. We followed it with a planning meeting a few weeks before the wedding to talk through the timeline, list the shots they wanted, and explore some creative ideas we ended up using on the day.
Bridal/grooms prep and the ceremony at Mere Court
The morning was relaxed; the ceremony — Rob and Sam had options across the Arboretum, the Dunkerley Suite, the Conservatory or outdoors at the pagoda — was full of emotion and warmth.
Couple portraits across the Mere Court grounds
The seven-acre grounds and the lake gave us huge variety for couple portraits. Knowing the venue well meant we could move efficiently between spots and keep things relaxed.
Wedding breakfast, speeches and the evening
The wedding breakfast and speeches were brilliant; the evening reception turned into a brilliant party.
“Rick is a great photographer and we are so pleased that we chose him to take pictures of our special day! From start to finish, I could not fault a thing. The engagement photoshoot was useful as it helped us get to know him better and the meeting we had a few weeks before the wedding day was really good as it helped us all get our head around how the day would go. He also came up with some inventive and creative ideas that we decided to do on the day.”
