Nicky and Nichola’s wedding day at Nunsmere Hall
Pre-wedding shoot and planning
Nicky and Nichola booked a pre-wedding shoot before the big day and we had a planning meeting at my studio. Both are absolutely lovely — by the wedding day everything was in place.
Bridal prep with six bridesmaids and flower girls
I arrived to find Nichola with a fantastic dress and six bridesmaids, plus Nicky’s two sisters and the flower girls — a proper hive of pre-wedding activity. Both came down the stairs separately to emotional welcomes from family and close friends.
Two brides up the aisle
Nicky went up the aisle first with her two sisters; then Nichola, again to plenty of emotion. The ceremony with both saying vows to each other — and one of the flower girls singing beautifully — was a privilege to photograph.
Caribbean band, jetty portraits and a rainbow-smoke group shot
After the ceremony there was a Caribbean band, cocktails for the guests, and couple portraits on the jetty by the Nunsmere lake. The highlight group shot was the couple with their six bridesmaids in pink, all holding smoke grenades — six colours of the LGBT flag plus pink. Stunning images.
Singing waiters, hilarious speeches and a Conga line
At the end of the meal, singing waiters surprised everyone, the Conga left the room and went around the hotel ground floor. The speeches were hilarious — I had to laugh through every one. Evening entertainment in the marquee included dancing nieces (the flower girls) doing a Strictly-style intro. One of the most memorable weddings I’ve photographed.
