About Mere Court Hotel — a four-star country house wedding venue near Knutsford and Manchester Airport

Mere Court Hotel sits just outside Knutsford in the heart of Cheshire, a four-star country house hotel and AA Rosette restaurant in seven acres of grounds. Originally built in 1903 as a wedding present for William Dunkerley and Amy Costance, the Dunkerleys lived there until 1955. North West Gas owned it next, the Hampson family converted it to a hotel in 1998, and the Chawla family added the Conservatory in 2003.

Bridal prep with Lauren and her daughter

I started with Lauren, her daughter and the bridesmaids — the excitement of a wedding day, hair and makeup in full flow, and plenty of natural images of the beautiful dress and flowers.

Ceremony in the Conservatory at Mere Court

The ceremony was in the Conservatory — a very light, glass-filled room — beautifully venue-dressed by Perfect Weddings of Altrincham. Lauren’s younger brother walked her up the aisle to a heartfelt ceremony, complete with the best man checking every pocket twice for the wedding rings (which got a big laugh from the whole room).

Horgans wedding car, blossom trees and drone work

After the ceremony we headed out for couple portraits in the Horgans wedding car — and yes, I add drone stills and video as an optional package extra. April weddings have the bonus of blossom trees, which worked beautifully on the car shots and the couple portraits across the Mere Court grounds.

Reception, hilarious speeches and a choreographed first dance

The reception was elegantly dressed by Perfect Weddings, the cake came from Bloomsbury. The bridesmaids’ rehearsed speech and the best man’s character-assassination of the groom had the whole room laughing — including me. The first dance was followed by a choreographed groomsmen routine that brought the house down.
