Laura and Tom’s Mere Court Hotel Wedding Day
Laura and Tom’s Christmas wedding at Mere Court Hotel in Knutsford was a brilliantly festive Cheshire wedding day. As the recommended Mere Court Hotel wedding photographer for over 15 years, I see this venue across all seasons — and Christmas at Mere Court, dressed beautifully by Perfect Weddings in Altrincham, is one of the best times of year here.

About Mere Court Hotel — a four-star country house wedding venue in Knutsford, Cheshire
Mere Court Hotel sits just outside Knutsford in the heart of Cheshire, a four-star country house hotel and AA Rosette restaurant in seven acres of grounds. Originally built in 1903 as a wedding present for William Dunkerley and Amy Costance, the Dunkerleys lived there until 1955. North West Gas owned it next, the Hampson family converted it to a hotel in 1998, and the Chawla family added the Conservatory in 2003.
I’ve been a recommended wedding photographer at Mere Court for over 15 years — and that long relationship matters. I know the venue, the team, the light through every room and where to be at each moment of the day.
- Four ceremony options: The Arboretum, The Dunkerley Suite, The Conservatory (up to 150 guests) and outdoors at the pagoda
- Grade II listed building set in seven acres with a lake
- 40 individually designed bedrooms plus The Lodge (a two-bedroom house)
- AA Rosette restaurant for the wedding breakfast
- Past guests include Bill Clinton, Ruby Wax, Dawn French and Spandau Ballet; venue featured in Cold Feet

Christmas decoration by Perfect Weddings, Altrincham
Huge thanks to Perfect Weddings in Altrincham for decorating Mere Court so beautifully for the Christmas wedding. Festive decor, candles and a warm, welcoming atmosphere right from the entrance.
Natural, unposed coverage
This wedding was great fun from start to finish with so many emotional moments captured. About 70 percent of the images are unposed with little interference from me — no over-posing with the couple, so they could enjoy their day and I could capture them genuinely enjoying their wedding. That’s how I work: natural capture so the real Laura and Tom come through, from bridal prep past the first dance.
Pre-wedding shoot and pre-meeting
The pre-wedding shoot and meetings before the wedding day helped massively — and Laura and Tom were such a fab couple, easy to work with.
Group shots — no limit
I always do whatever group images all couples want — there’s no limit on group shots with me. The limits are set by the couple whose day it is. And the beautiful dress always comes out for some important images to keep.
Fun in the rain
And of course — the party images in the rain. You can have fun in the rain, and they did. Some of the best Mere Court Hotel wedding images in the gallery are taken in less-than-perfect weather; you just need a couple willing to lean in.
Wedding breakfast, speeches and the first dance
The wedding breakfast, speeches and first dance all flowed. Natural posing with the occasional creative pose, and plenty of spontaneous moments captured throughout.
Thank you Laura and Tom — congratulations to you both, on a brilliant Christmas wedding day at Mere Court Hotel.
