Kiet and Nicky’s wedding at Merrydale Manor in Over Peover, Knutsford was a special one — a brilliantly photogenic Cheshire wedding venue, a relaxed couple I’d already photographed for their pre-wedding shoot, and even a real rainbow during prep. As a Cheshire wedding photographer, Merrydale Manor is one of my favourite places to work — the glass ceremony hall and the lake and pagoda give you so much variety.

Pre-wedding shoot and the pre-meeting

Kiet and Nicky are friends of my second shooter Peter, so I’d already photographed their pre-wedding shoot and had a planning meeting with them. That kind of preparation pays off on the day — we already knew each other and the day’s plan was clear.

Grooms prep together at Merrydale Manor

I captured the day naturally from the start, with grooms prep at the manor. Kiet and Nicky spent the first part of prep together — helping each other and shooting some quick darts and pool to take the edge off the morning. And then a real rainbow appeared, which felt about right.

A glass-walled ceremony

The East Cheshire registrars led a lovely ceremony in the glass-walled ceremony hall — the venue dressing was stunning. The confetti train afterwards and the lake shots, with Kiet and Nicky walking down the jetty together, gave us some of the best images of the day.

Wedding breakfast and dancing

The wedding breakfast and speeches were genuinely funny — I had to laugh more than once. The first dance got everyone up, and the night photography around the pagoda and the lake (with the venue’s beautiful lighting) made for some of the most cinematic shots of the day.
