About Hyde Bank Farm — a Grade II listed barn wedding venue in Romiley, Stockport

Hyde Bank Farm is in Romiley, Stockport — a Grade II listed sandstone barn dating back to 1655 that was once home to Anne Hyde, who went on to marry James II, King of England. The Blackhurst family have owned the farm for over 100 years; today it’s a purpose-built, exclusive-use Cheshire / Stockport wedding venue with only one wedding per day.

Emma and Stuart’s wedding day at Hyde Bank Farm

Bridal prep at Emma’s parents’ house

I started the day at Emma’s parents’ house with all the hive of bridal prep activity — makeup, hair, the green colour theme with two bridesmaids in green and Stuart’s suit in blue. Emma and her parents were relaxed and chatty, a grandparent arriving made for some lovely moments, and when dad saw Emma for the very first time in her dress there were few dry eyes in the room.

Arrival at Hyde Bank Farm

Hyde Bank Farm looked spectacular with beautiful blue sky overhead — exactly the conditions you want for this venue with the Goyt Valley as a backdrop. The Stockport registrars led a lovely ceremony.

Vintage car portraits

After the ceremony, Emma and Stuart went for a drive in their car from Horgans Cars — a real highlight. We worked it into the couple portraits along with multiple variations around the venue.

The famous red tractor — and some excellent sunglasses

The Hyde Bank Farm red tractor was important to Emma and Stuart so we worked it into the couple portraits — and Emma added some excellent shades. In the evening she also added a stunning blue scarf which carried through her colour palette beautifully.

Speeches and the evening

The speeches were funny and heartfelt — well introduced by a friend of Stuart’s. After that, the dance floor opened and stayed busy for the rest of the night.
