Deborah and Mark’s wedding day at Shottle Hall
Pre-wedding shoot and the drive to Derbyshire
Having met Deborah and Mark on their pre-wedding shoot I was already looking forward to the day. On the drive down I was even happier to find a dry, sunny September day waiting for me at Shottle Hall.
A picturesque Derbyshire setting
Shottle Hall and its grounds are picturesque and photogenic — an intimate hall with amazing views and friendly staff. Deborah had her makeup and hair done at the hall; I later met Mark before the afternoon ceremony.
Vibrant flowers, gerberas and colour
All the rooms were so well decorated with bright, vibrant flowers, gerberas and lots of colour.
Personal-vows ceremony
The ceremony was a lovely occasion — Deborah and Mark read their own words to each other, making the service especially personal.
Outdoor portraits and the Shottle Hall homework
After the ceremony it was outside for photos. Part of my job is to do the homework — I’d looked at the grounds before the wedding day, so I knew exactly where to take Deborah and Mark for the best spots and the group images. The hall has gardens, views, a staircase and great interiors.
Funny speeches and the sunset over the Derbyshire hills
The speeches were brilliant — Deborah’s dad was so funny. I’d planned to stay for the first dance and night images, but very luckily I was also able to capture sunset images with the backdrop of the Derbyshire hills — an awesome orange light on Deborah’s veil, romantic couple images, and photographs of their beautiful and very leapy dog.
Marquee dancing and Shottle Hall night images
After the night images with the Derbyshire hills backdrop and dancing in the marquee, it was time to leave the couple to enjoy the rest of their day.
