Christine and Ali’s Superb Oak Tree Of Peover Wedding Day
Christine and Ali’s wedding at The Oak Tree of Peover was a superb Cheshire wedding day — beautifully planned, deliberately bubble-themed instead of confetti and packed with creative ideas we developed together. As a Cheshire wedding photographer, I love how The Oak Tree of Peover gives you both intimate interiors (the Acorn and Ladybird rooms) and proper countryside grounds.

About The Oak Tree of Peover — a Cheshire countryside wedding venue off the A556
The Oak Tree of Peover is in Cheshire just off the A556 and was established as a wedding venue in September 2014. It’s surrounded by gentle grounds, a lake and woods, and feels properly tucked away.
- The Acorn Room — floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights flood the wedding breakfast space with natural light by day; twinkly fairy lights set the mood by night
- The Ladybird Room — the named ceremony room (so-called after ladybirds appeared during the 2019 extension build, which the team took as a good-luck sign)
- Lake, woods and lovely grounds for outdoor wedding photography
- Feel of being properly in the countryside while still close to Knutsford and the M6

Engagement shoot and planning
Christine and Ali came in for an engagement shoot a few months ahead of the wedding — partly for some fantastic relaxed images, partly to help them feel comfortable in front of the camera. The session also let me showcase a few techniques (including false sunsets) so they could see what was possible.
Pre-wedding planning at the home studio and the venue
Closer to the wedding we met at my home studio to walk through the timetable and the plan. We then visited the Oak Tree of Peover so I could familiarise myself with the space and plan specific shots — particularly around the lake and the outdoor reflections.
Bubbles instead of confetti
Christine and Ali wanted to give guests tubes of bubbles instead of confetti, so I suggested adding bubble machines for maximum impact. The result was beautiful — the bubble shots ended up among the strongest images of the day.
The ceremony in the Ladybird Room
The ceremony in the Ladybird Room was lovely — the natural light through the windows, the Cheshire countryside through the glass, and the venue dressed beautifully.
Lake reflections and couple portraits
After the ceremony we worked the outdoor space — the lake reflections gave us some standout photographs, and the grounds at The Oak Tree of Peover offer real variety for couple portraits.
Wedding breakfast in the Acorn Room
The Acorn Room with its floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights was filled with natural light through the wedding breakfast. As the evening came in, the fairy lights took over and the room transformed into a beautiful evening reception space.
“We hired Rick to photograph our wedding at the Oak Tree at Peover, and were really impressed by both his approach before and on the day, and the final output. Rick invited us to an engagement shoot a few months ahead of the wedding… Rick’s approach really helped set us at ease and helped us get the most out of the pictures. Closer to the wedding we met with Rick in his home studio to discuss our timetable and plans… Rick also visited the venue to familiarise himself, and plan for some specific shots. This led to some fantastic photos utilising the outside space and reflections across the lake.”
